This Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, and protected when you download, install, or use Authenticator App - 2FA and related services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

Authenticator App - 2FA is designed to operate without requiring personally identifiable information such as name, email address, phone number, contact details, etc.

Users can use Authenticator App - 2FA without creating an account or submitting personal data.

1.2 Authentication Data

Authenticator App - 2FA generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) used for two-factor authentication. Authentication tokens, secret keys, and generated codes are stored locally on the user’s device.

We do not collect, access, or store authentication codes on external servers, unless the user explicitly enables optional backup features within the application.

Users are responsible for keeping their device secure and maintaining backups when available.

1.3 Non-Personal Information

To improve the reliability and performance of Authenticator App - 2FA, limited non-personal information may be automatically collected, including:

  • Device model and manufacturer
  • Operating system version
  • App usage statistics
  • Crash reports and diagnostic information
  • Country or general region (not precise location)
  • Advertising identifiers provided by the device

This information does not personally identify users.

2. How We Use Information

The information collected may be used to:

  • Improve application functionality and performance
  • Identify and resolve technical issues or crashes
  • Analyze general usage trends
  • Improve user experience and security features
  • Prevent fraud, misuse, or unauthorized activity

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

We may use third-party advertising networks that may collect non-personal information through cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies according to their own privacy policies. Examples include:

https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/

5. Google User Data

Authenticator App - 2FA can optionally connect to your Google Account so that an encrypted backup of your authentication tokens can be saved and restored. This connection is entirely optional, is disabled by default, and is only established after you sign in and grant consent on Google’s own consent screen.

5.1 Permissions We Request

We request the narrowest set of permissions needed for this feature. The scopes requested and the reason for each are:

  • TODO(scopes): scope 1 — TODO(scopes): the specific purpose this scope serves, e.g. storing your encrypted backup file in a private application folder of your own Google Drive that no other application can read.
  • TODO(scopes): scope 2 — TODO(scopes): the specific purpose this scope serves.

5.2 How Google User Data Is Used

Data accessed through Google APIs is used solely to provide and improve the backup and restore feature that you explicitly enabled. It is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide this feature, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition in which case we will give affected users notice.

We do not allow humans to read this data unless we have your explicit consent for a specific support request, it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), or it is required to comply with applicable law.

5.3 Retention and Deletion

Backup files created by the app are stored in storage that belongs to you and remain there until you delete them or disable the backup feature. Revoking the app’s access does not automatically delete files already stored in your account; you can remove them from your Google Drive at any time.

5.4 Revoking Access

You can revoke the app’s access to your Google Account at any time by disabling backup within the app, or from your Google Account’s third-party access settings at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

5.5 Limited Use Disclosure

Authenticator App - 2FA’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information against unauthorized access, modification, or loss.

Authentication tokens generated in Authenticator App - 2FA remain stored on the user's device unless the user chooses to enable backup functionality. However, no system or online service can guarantee complete security.

7. Children’s Privacy

Authenticator App - 2FA is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that such information has been collected unintentionally, we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

8. Legal Requirements

Information may be disclosed if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of the application and its users.

9. Location Information

Authenticator App - 2FA does not collect precise location data. If location-related information is required for certain features, only general region or country information provided by the device may be used. This information is not used to track individual users.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of Authenticator App - 2FA after updates indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
